Our friend Marie has adopted an orphaned baby squirrel.

I raised 6 baby chipmunks long ago when their nest was destroyed by a home reno.
I had rats at the time (in one of the huge habitrail systems with tubes and about 7 large cages in all) and I discovered that they got along with my rats quite well so they lived together for about 2 months.
At that point I had no choice but to release them as they were getting increasingly wild at about 4 months of age so I took them up north (completely out of the city) and let them go.
Within about 5 minutes they were all up different trees snacking on pinecones, so I hope they survived.
My mother once had a pet squirrel and supposedly they make good pets once they’re fixed - they’re a little more laid back and domesticate better then chipmunks apparently.
Word from Marie is, that she’s taking it to the Squirrel Sanctuary this coming week.
