Archive for March, 2008By Saturday we had already accumulated 170cm (5.5 feet) of snow this winter. Saturday they were calling for another 30cm (1 foot) of snow. The record snowfall for our area is 210cm (7 foot). This past Sunday morning, I got up and while passing the backdoor, took a look out. The Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus) is a small hawk. In fact “Sharpies” (as they are abbreviated by North American birdwatchers), are the smallest to reside in USA and Canada, though some Neotropical species are smaller (notably the aptly named Tiny Hawk).
