Mark My Words!

Canada needs 3 wins to get the Olympic Gold Medal. Tonight they play Russia… heed my words.

Ticket Trouble

As you saw in a previous vlog, my sister bought us two tickets to see the Leafs practice at the GM Centre, here in Oshawa. That was the easy part… now to decide who I should take with me.

HUGE Leaf Trade

Highly unusual in the NHL (National Hockey League) to have a multiplayer trade in this cap limited environment. But with that said, Brian Burke, the General Manager has orchestrated two deals, within minutes of each other, that see 10 players changing teams.

Burke shook up his slumping club by shipping out six players Sunday in exchange for former all-star defenceman Dion Phaneuf from the Calgary Flames and goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere from the Anaheim Ducks.

Heading to the Flames are defenceman Ian White and forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman and Jamal Mayers, while goalie Vesa Toskala and winger Jason Blake are headed to Anaheim.

The teams average age dropped by 4.5 years. This makes the Toronto Maple Leafs built for the future. Will this be a formula to bring the Stanley Cup to Toronto in the next few years? God, I hope so.

NHL Starts Tonight

Wow, only a couple hours away. I can’t believe the start of the season is so close.
Very exciting!

Seventh Heaven

After 82 regular season games and three rounds of playoffs and the best of 7 series comes down to one game.
Pittsburgh Penguins vs Detroit Red Wings.
As kids we dreamed about scoring the game winning goal in the seventh game.
Bring it!

Doggy Deke

Zoe and I play some keep-away outside the Cabana. Hockey stick and a wooden hole.

Ban Fights in Hockey?

What seems to be a national debate right now, Should they BAN FIGHTING in Professional hockey? I think fighting IS an important component of the game I love.

I Bleed Blue & White

After the final whistle has blown, we sit in the Cabana and discuss the game.

Puck Drops on Leaf Season

Well, it’s that time of year. The Toronto maple Leafs start their 2008-2009 season. With no main hockey stars, how will the team do?
